Winter Survival Excersise

Keith Kelly

By Keith Kelly

Members of the 575 Terrier Squadron, Royal Canadian Air Cadets, go snow shoeing as part of their winter survival exercise in February. This is one of the many activities that the Portage squadron takes part in throughout the year. They also went tubing at Roger’s Hill in early March.
The squadron meets every Wednesday night from 6:45 to 9:15 in Southport. The cadets, open to boys and girls aged 12 to 19, is a fun and free activity. The air cadets allow youth to develop leadership skills, physical fitness and to participate in weekend and summer camps among other fun activities. One of the highlights of the year is when the squadron goes gliding.
If the air cadets sound like something you would enjoy, you can contact the squadron at (204) 428-2546 or (204) 428-2495. You can also check out the Air Cadet League of Canada website.
