The Austin Hick Chicks is a drill team group from the Central Plains area who have been riding horses together, and they have entertained the crowds at the local rodeos and fairs in the community for more than 5 years.
They started performing at the Austin Threshermen's Reunion rodeo and then took it another step further with more intricate patterns set to music at a faster pace, somewhat similar to the RCMP's Musical Ride. They have performed at various rodeos/fairs in this past season and are looking forward to entertaining more in the near future for the public and the surrounding community. The team members have a very wide range of people who get involved, from age ten all the way up to age fifty plus. The Hick Chicks are a fun group of girls that are building their youth and performance team for the upcoming season. The Hick Chicks are always looking for new riders, noting the group is a great way to challenge yourself and your horse, learn new skills, perform at rodeos, ride in parades, and of course having fun while meeting new people.
The member of drill team also decided they really wanted to give back to the community by helping to raise awareness for various causes, and to give a lending hand whenever it is needed.. It is time for our 2nd Annual Christmas Banquet and it is taking place in the Austin Community Hall on December 7th 2013. Come and join us for a fun evening with a home cooked dinner with a Christmas theme, and great entertainment, featuring Bert Wytinck and Friends.
Bert Wytinck has been a guest performer at the Manitoba Cowboy Poetry Group gatherings for approximately 10 years. His songs will take you away into the life of the cowboy, while he capably accompanies himself with a guitar, a mandolin or a month organ. When Bert isn’t performing you will find him in the kitchen at the Cafe Bru with his wife, Annette near Cypress River, MB.
Doors open at 5 pm with supper starting at 6. Part of the proceeds will be going to a local cause, Sprucedale Industries, who are raising money to construct a new building.
Tickets are:
Age 12 plus $20.00
Ages 6-12 $15.00
