At the Eric Coy Recreational Centre Field in Charleswood on Saturday October 19, 2013 Atom Pitbulls history was made! Since the Pitbulls leagues inception, this day was the first time the Atoms have advanced to the final playoff game. Yes, the Charleswood Broncos had home field advantage, and yes, the Broncos were undefeated coming into this game. The Broncos are a mighty team indeed having earned their undefeated status. Throughout the game, the Broncos quarterback completed a few long passes, and their running backs made some big gains. But that is where it all stops folks.

There is an African proverb that says, If you want to go fast go alone, if you want to go farther go together. This just about sums up how well the Atom Pitbulls have been playing. Everyone plays hard, everyone plays with heart, and they all play as a team!

The Pitbulls entire offensive line was incredible as they stood steadfast and denied the Broncos on every quarterback sack attempt. Head Coach Miles Irwin noted Gabe Glover as making the most outstanding offensive tackles against the Broncos. Kudos also go out to Anastasia, Jaylen, Jayden, and Ethan for making outstanding tackles on the line of scrimmage. Successfully completing several rushing yards for big gains and touchdowns was a collective effort from Kaiden, Colby, Andrew and Griffin. In the after-game huddle, Coach Irwin noted Kaiden Banfield as player of the game for his outstanding offensive game contributions.

Equally impressive were the efforts of the entire defensive lineup. The Broncos were firing on all cylinders running their tried and true winning plays and making their long bomb attempts, but the Pitbulls confounded them at every turn, with defender Brock Miller completing a very exciting pass interception late in the game! The entire defensive lineup of Darien, Nathan, Levi, Alexis, Mathieu, CJ, Kyler, Noah, Keon and Brock are developing quite the reputation as a defensive squad.

The Atom Portage Pitbulls reigned in the undefeated Broncos 49-19 to clinch another playoff win that sends the Pitbulls to Investors Group Field for the final playoff game next Sunday. Congratulations to the Atom Pitbulls, coaches Irwin, Banfield, Stasiuk and trainers Ritchie & Miller for a job well done!

Sharing in the play by play excitement were a very lively group of Pitbulls fans clapping, clinging, clanging and yes woofing it up to Who Let the Dogs Out! It was hilarious and good fun by all!

Ladies & Gentlemen Pitbulls Mania is in the air!
