Calling all Parents & Grandparents who drive

Spring gets people outside and moving and as a driver you share the road not only with other vehicles but with pedestrians, bikers, skate boarders and motorized scooters.

To help prepare drivers a free workshop is being offer by the Herman Prior Centre, Safety Services Manitoba, MPI and Southern Health-Santé Sud. The workshop will provide updated knowledge of traffic laws and road safety rules, offer defensive driving tips and focus on how to share the road safely with those using active transportation modes.

Remember when sharing the road with bikes:
• Stay alert for bicycles. They are everywhere and focus especially at intersections.
• Provide a safe passing distance. At speeds under 60 km/hr drivers should provide a minimum of 1m/3ft. of passing distance.
• Slow down when passing.
• Don’t honk your horn. This can startle cyclists and cause them to lose control.
• Shoulder-check before opening your car door.

Protect your loved ones attend Tuesday May 14, 2013 from 6:00-9:00p.m. at the Herman Prior Centre. Call 857-6951 to register.
