The Midwest AAA midget baseball team that Landon Walker and Tyler Reiner were picked to play on won a Brandon tournament on July 25-26. The team will be playing in the provincial playoff in Winnipeg on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The senior men’s Pirates beat out Ebb and Flow in the first round of league playoff. They now meet Ste. Rose in the semi-finals; Neepawa is playing Minnedosa in the other semi. The winner of each will meet in the finals. Minnedosa was in first place at the end of league play and picked up Justin Walker and Tyler Reiner of the Bantam Pirates to play in the senior AA provincial in Wawanesa on Aug. 7-9.
Zac Yandeau, one of the Plumas bantam baseball players, has been picked up by Dauphin and will be playing in the Western Canada game in Surrey, B.C., on the Aug. 16 weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim McGregor returned home on July 24 after spending several days between here and Port Alberni, B.C., where they attended their niece’s wedding.
Elizabeth and Crystal Sveinson of Winnipeg spent the July 25th weekend at Bernice Evenson’s house. I didn’t see much of them as I was at the fairgrounds all weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Single of Chiliwack, B.C., are visiting among relatives in the area and are here for the school reunion on the August long weekend.
Visiting with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alex Antoniuk, are Mr. and Mrs. Gary Welch of Spruce Grove, Alta., Mr. and Mrs. George Roberts and Scotty of Calgary, Mr. and Mrs. Blair Antoniuk of Sherwood Park, Alta. They are all home for the school reunion.
Mr. and Mrs. Murray Antoniuk have their family home: Jeffery from Edmonton and Andrea from Vancouver.
The Midwest Bantam AAA team hosted a tournament last weekend, during the Plumas fair. On July 25, they had a doubleheader with a Morden-area team and won both games. On July 26 in the morning, they lost their first game to Parkland, 8-6. Brandon lost to Oil Dome 7-6; Parkland then beat Oil Dome and Midwest beat Brandon 8-3. These teams will all be playing in the provincial in Brandon on the Civic Holiday weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. Ken Oswald returned home after camping at Steep Rock for the last few weeks.
There will be some reports from the Plumas fair next week.
