Strong showing for locals at junior event

Youth golfers were on showcased this weekend at the Portage Golf Club.

Portagers Clark Bolton, Owen Gillespie, and Carson Inman were all in the field at this weekend's Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour stop in Portage la Prairie Saturday and Sunday.

16-year old Bolton's two-day score of 163 (84-79) earned him tenth position while fellow 16-year-old Gillespie finished one back with a score of 164 (89-75) and good enough for eleventh place in the Juvenile Boys flight.

11-year old Carson Inman finished in a tie for second place with a score of 175 over the two days (86-89). 61 players made up the field this weekend including both female and male golfers aged 10-22, with players from B.C., Saskatchewan and Manitoba in the mix.
