There’s more ball in the works for the boys after a big win.

The Westpark Royals varsity boys basketball team has extended their basketball season for a couple weeks as they won their provincial qualifying match 76-73 over Nellie McClung to book their ticket to the Provincial A Boys Basketball Championship.

“The guys played tight defense and couldn’t let up the whole game,” says Royals’ head coach, Ian Alford. “Our defense was really good against their star player that could shoot from outside the arc. It was a tight race right down to the buzzer.”

Owen Alford led the Royals with 23 points but there was a distribution of scoring between the starting line-up. The game was tied at 73 with little time on the clock when Adam Hofer nailed a three-pointer to seal the win for Westpark.

The Royals now look forward to the Provincial A Boys Basketball Championship in Treherne, Man., Thursday, March 15.
