Defence is getting it done.

The Westpark Royals varsity boys basketball team picked up back to back wins in Zone 4 A basketball when the Royals dropped Shevchenko 71-64 before taking out St. Paul’s 63-37 on the road.

"They’re finally listening and executing the defensive strategy,” says Royals head coach, Ian Alford. “The boys are playing well on our side of the ball and winning games starts there.”

The Royals now sit 3-4 this season, and with one game left Thursday night against Rosenort, they’ve got a shot at climbing to .500 for the regular season. They currently sit in third place tied with the Redhawks so Thursday night’s match will determine home advantage in the playoffs.

“It’s a good time to get rolling because we’ve been playing very well,” adds Alford. “With four wins in-a-row right now we’re hitting it at the right time. We just need to transfer this into the playoffs and we could go far.”

The Royals and Redhawks tip off at 7:30 p.m. in Rosenort.
