Super 8 vandal slapped with numerous charges
An individual responsible for an early morning disturbance last week at the Super 8 Hotel in Portage la Prairie has a lot to answer for.
According to police, Portage RCMP were called to the hotel on Saskatchewan Avenue a little before 4 a.m., Feb, 9 for a disturbance as witnesses reported hearing loud banging coming from the hotel’s parking lot.
Officers arrived to find 15 vehicles damaged by an unidentified suspect. Windshields and windows were reportedly smashed out of most of the vehicles, with some items missing from within. Later that morning, in what was at the time believed to be an unrelated matter, police took a 34-year-old male into custody following a disturbance in an ATM lobby.
As investigators pieced together information from witnesses and vehicle owners, they discovered that the male in custody was believed to be the person responsible for the damage at the hotel.
Luis Manuel Padilla, 34, was charged with 14 counts of mischief over $5,000, obstruction of a police officer, and theft under $5,000. He was held in custody until such time as he could appear before the court.
