The Portage Terriers fell 5-4 to the Swan Valley Stampeders Sunday night at Stride Place in Portage la Prairie.
Jeremey Leipsic scored with four seconds left in the second and again early in the third to erase a two goal Stampeder advantage and knot the game at three.
The Terriers failed to take the lead despite sustained pressure for much of the final frame and it proved costly. Josh Tripp scored an unassisted marked at the 16:04 mark and Noah Basarab restored the two goal lead minutes later with his 16th of the season.
Ty Enns brought the Terriers within one but that's as close as the Dogs would get, as the Stamps held on for the two points.
The Terriers are back in action Wednesday on the road in Winnipeg.
