Letters to the editor

RE: Bergen response to Werbiski letter published in Jan. 30 Graphic

Dear Editor,

I see our MP was kind enough to respond to my letter in the Herald Leader on December 7 2017. I am not sure why Ms. Bergen enjoys making issues more confusing than they need to be. I believe what I said was the Federal Liberal government lowered the small business tax from 11% to 10% effective January 1, 2018, and will lower it again to 9% effective January 1, 2019 (www.fin.gc.ca/n17/17-097-eng.asp). Lowered, not raised. The Federal Liberal government called for consultations on proposed changes to the tax law, Canadians responded and changes were made. No matter how hard she tries, the Conservative party cannot claim responsibility for that. Our MP Candice Bergen seems to be the one misleading the people of Portage-Lisgar.

To be clear, I will always stand up for what I believe in, whether Ms. Bergen thinks that I should or not. I do it because that is who I am, and we live in a democracy.
As I have Ms. Bergen’s attention I will ask a question. An election is the most important time to engage voters, some people call it to a job interview. Therefore, will you commit to attend any and all debates held in Portage-Lisgar in the 2019 election? The good people of Portage-Lisgar want to know.

Ken Werbiski
