IIU investigating following injury to Portage youth
The Independent Investigation Unit is investigating after a female youth suffered a broken collar bone during a February 7 incident in Portage la Prairie.
According to RCMP, officers responded to a call regarding an allegation of threats uttered by a group of youths at a local rec centre. When police approached, a 14-year-old girl attempted to flee.
A foot chase ensued and the youth was apprehended and transported to the Portage RCMP detachment. The girl complained of shoulder and arm pain and was taken to local hospital where it was determined she had a broken collar bone.
The investigation is ongoing, no further details will be provided at this time.
