Premier Brian Pallister has been injured from a “serious fall” while on vacation in New Mexico.
A government news release said the premier was hiking in the Gila Wilderness when the fall occurred, causing “numerous cuts and bruises and compound fractures in his left arm.” The release said Pallister was hospitalized in Silver City overnight and thanks police and medical personnel for their “quality care.”
The premier will return to Manitoba today and be re-evaluated to determine if he needs surgery.
The press release says he’s still preparing for next week’s Speech from the Throne at this point, which is scheduled to take place on Tuesday.
