The Trojans and Saints both picked up victories this week
High school hockey update

The Portage Collegiate Institute’s hockey teams picked up wins in their respective leagues to wrap up the week as the Saints took out Miles Mac 5-2 on the road Wednesday in Winnpeg while the Trojans held out for a 4-3 win in overtime over Carman Thursday in Portage.
The Trojans stopped their seven-game losing streak in the Zone 4 Hockey League in its tracks with the victory. The boys were trailing 1-0 at the end of the first period but found their legs in the second and exploded for three goals to take the lead. Steven Vey, Ethan Woodward and Rylan Crawford score PCI’s goals in the middle frame. The Cougars pushed back in the third, scoring twice to tie the game at three.
It didn’t take long for PCI to finish off Carman in the overtime period. 30 seconds into the extra frame Matt Boychuk scored to seal the victory for the Trojans. Grayson Pashe picked up the win between the pipes making 37 saves.
The Trojans are back in Zone 4 action when they welcome Morris to Portage Thursday, November 23.
Saints rising up
The PCI Saints took out Miles Mac 5-2 Wednesday night in Winnipeg Women’s High School Hockey League CTV Division action in Winnipeg.
Five different players found the back of the net for the Saints. Kiera, Paige and Maddie Shwaluk, Rhiannon Ice, and Chelsea Owens were the goal scorers while Tori Janeczko made 20 saves for the win in net. The win moves the Saints into a tie for fourth place with St. Mary's at 6-2-0-1.
The Saints are back on the ice Monday when they welcome Oak Park (5-2-1) to Stride Place.
