There's still a lot of season left.

The Winnipeg Avros flew right by the Central Plains Capitals this weekend in a home and home series in the Manitoba Female Midget Hockey League, winning 5-1 in Winnipeg Saturday and 3-0 in Portage Sunday.

It was a good opportunity for the Caps to make up some ground on Avros, who were tied at 4-2 heading into the weekend. Winnipeg snagged two clean victories, though, and was able to pull cleanly into fourth place position. Cheyenne Davie scored the Caps' lone goal over the two games.

The Caps aren't out of the race by any means with two big games coming up over higher ranked teams. The girls have also only played eight games, four less than second place Eastman. Interlake is still winless while the Pembina Valley Hawks are nipping at Central Plains' heels with seven points at 3-5-1.

The lady Caps are on the road this weekend for MFMHL action against Yellowhead on Saturday, and Westman on Sunday.
