Portage la Prairie RCMP have charged a 51-year-old male with careless driving in relation to this morning's collision.

Police say clean up of the roadway and damaged vehicles might still cause some delays with westbound traffic, so motorists should be aware of these potential delays.

According to the latest release, a second occupant involved in the incident was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Police wish to remind all motorists to reduce their speeds when traveling on icy road conditions, and to remain alert to what is happening on the roadway at all times.

A three-vehicle collision has caused delays as westbound traffic on Hwy 1, near Road 29W, is being limited to one lane.

According to Portage RCMP, at approximately 10:45 a.m., this morning police, along with local emergency services, responded to a three vehicle collision in the RM of Portage la Prairie.

As per a release, initial investigations suggest that a pick-up truck towing a 5th wheel camper trailer struck a load of culverts being carried by a tractor trailer. A third vehicle then struck the camper trailer. One motorist involved was taken to hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Any updates will be forthcoming once available; the matter is still under investigation, and no charges have been laid at this time.
