It keeps getting better every year.
The 12th annual Portage Animal Welfare Society Fur Ball went off without a hitch Saturday night as hundreds of supporters helped raise over $2,000 for their furry friends that may be in need in the Portage la Prairie area.
“This money will help us a lot,” says Staci Creighton, PAWS chairman and treasurer. “We're thinking about getting started on a new building, and the funds would really help out there. Of course, if there are any animal emergencies we need to take care of it could also go toward that.”
Creighton says a lot of the people come every year and they're always upping the costumes party-goers wear. She says there are always prizes for best costumes and it was especially hard to pick the winners this year because there were so many good ones.
“I think the night went really well,” adds Creighton. “There were over 130 people that stopped in and everyone seemed to have a great time. It was my favourite social to date for sure.”
PAWS has their Annual General Meeting coming up November, 7, at the Portage Regional Library.
