A couple local skaters were a cut above the rest last week.
Central Plains forwards Maegan Inman and Megan Ferg were both named the Manitoba Female Midget Hockey League's (MFMHL) CCM-Selkirk Source for Sports co-Players of the Week.
Both are second-year players with the Capitals and have taken on larger leadership roles on the ice. The Caps went into this week's play with a short bench for three games in five days. Inman and Ferg both had six points in those three games, which all ended in victories for the Capitals.
Inman had five goals and one assist including a hat trick in the Caps 4-3 win over Eastman, while Ferg had two goals to go along with four assists. Both were utilized heavily on special teams and are currently sitting in the top five in MFMHL scoring. Ferg leads the Capitals with 10 goals and 19 points while Inman sits third with 8 goals and 17 points.
The ladies' hard two-way play helped the Capitals pick up six of a possible six points by defeating Interlake 5-2, Eastman 4-3 and league-leading Westman 3-2 in a shootout.
Ferg and Inman will be back in action with the Caps November 11 when they visit the Avros.
