Playoffs are approaching.
It's past the halfway point in the high school volleyball season as teams start to joust for playoff positioning.
Portage Collegiate's varsity boys were on the court this week for West Winnipeg Athletic Conference (WWAC) Tier 2 action. They took down the St. James Jimmies in four sets winning 25-22, 25-16 and 25-21. The Trojans sit in the middle of the division at 4-3 with three games remaining on the season. The varsity Saints were off for a bye week and are still undefeated at 6-0. Currently they're ranked second in the province and third in their division because of fewer played games. Both clubs resume their WWAC seasons Monday when they host Westwood at PCI.
Westpark's varsity volleyball teams were in Zone 4A play. The varsity boys came away with win over Rosenort in four sets. They're currently ranked first in the Zone at 5-1. The varsity girls weren't as fortunate, losing on the road to St. Jean-Baptiste in straight sets. They sit 1-3 in second to last place. Both varsity clubs are back on the court Tuesday in Rosenort.
