Although costs came in above initial estimates, the Portage District General Hospital Foundation’s heliport project will continue to go off without a hitch, as KF Aerospace graciously donated $25,000 to the cause last week.

“We knew that this was a requirement for the town. Aviation related, it’s really in our wheelhouse as far as an aerospace company,” says Peter Fedak, KF Aerospace site manager. “For everything the community has given to us and the benefits we receive from having this air force contract and being a part of that history, we wanted to make sure that the (heliport) program went through without impacting any of the other activities the Foundation does.”

Work on heliport construction began last month with an official sod turning event and completion is expected within the coming weeks.
