Man sought in relation to apartment building break-in

A man wanted in connection to a break in at Portage's Oak Tree Apartments is believed to have been captured on CCTV at a nearby 7/11 prior to the incident.

According to Portage RCMP, police were called to the apartments on Saskatchewan Ave., just after 10 p.m., Sunday night after witnesses reported seeing a male suspect enter the building and head towards the building's main kitchen.

Security officers on scene claim the kitchen had been rifled through with cupboards, fridges and freezers all ransacked.

The suspect is described as  an Indigenous male, approximately 6-foot in height with a medium build and was last seen wearing a black jacket, red shirt, ball cap, and riding a mountain bike.

Investigators are asking that anyone who can identify the suspect contact the Portage la Prairie RCMP at 204-857-4445, or your local police detachment. Anonymous tips can be made through Manitoba Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) and mantiobacrimestoppers.com. Tips leading to the identification and prosecution of the suspect could receive cash awards.
