Southport digs deeper for United Way

Southport on Friday present a cheque for $7,000 to the United Way campaign. “100 per cent of our employees donated in the effort that was matched by Southport,” says Peggy May, Southport chief executive officer. “We bumped it up a little bit, so for the third year in a row we have been able to give a little bit more than the year before.” Southport has done what the United Way campaign has been hoping for; generous efforts at a stage of its campaign when it is needed most. Last year Southport donated just over $6,000 and the increased amount this year helps the United Way campaign in the home stretch to raise $247,000.
