One in five travellers admits to joining the Mile High Club
Are you a member of the Mile High Club?
According to a new survey, one in five travellers say they are.
The survey of 2,000 passengers from Stratos Jet Charters reveals the 17% of couples -- and amorous strangers -- who are hooking up at 30,000 feet are mostly doing it in economy class (80%), opting to kiss (41%), fondle (17%) and even get "handsy below the belt" (7%) with each other in their seats instead of in those tiny airplane washrooms, a spot preferred by only 25% of in-air lovers.
A first-class rendezvous is the choice of 20% of discerning travellers.
Some of the respondents say they had no choice but to go it alone, as evidenced by the 5% of air travellers who 'fessed up to masturbating mid-flight. Only 4% admitted to giving or receiving oral sex or having actual intercourse on an airplane.
We're not only hooking up with our partners, either. While 79% of people say their significant other is their obvious choice for sexy time in the sky, 20% say they've had a tryst with a stranger and 14% have with a friend. Two per cent of survey respondents say they have hooked up with a flight attendant or pilot.
And even if you're among the 83% of survey respondents who haven't gone beyond first base on a plane, you've been fantasizing about it.
According to the survey, 52% of people would like to join the Mile High Club, compared to the 31% who have no interest in it.
