Make it at home: Five delicious Chinese New Year recipes

By Rita DeMontis, Toronto Sun

My favourite grocery stores and supermarkets were awash with festive offerings this week, all in anticipation of the coming Chinese New Year.

Wonderful! I love a good party. Bring on the long noodles (for longevity) and the colour red - this year's festivities, which recently started on Feb. 19, is a 15-day celebration - this year it's all about the Year of the Sheep. Famed Canadian astrologer and SUN Media columnist Eugenia Last says the 2015 Sheep will bring a "mindful, sentimental and steadier flavour to the year as it unfolds."

I kept this in mind as I sourced out the ingredients for an excellent Chinese celebration in honour of this most hospitable year!

Here's a selection of Chinese New Year recipes developed by Vancouver-based food journalist and cook Stephanie Yuen for Loblaws.
