Amanda Bynes in negotiations for rap deal

Embattled actress Amanda Bynes is one step closer to realizing her rap star dreams — she's in negotiations to join a hip-hop label.

The Hairspray star, who was once a sweet TV actress, has expressed her interest in rap in recent weeks on her Twitter page and it appears someone was taking note.

Daniel Herman of Chinga Chang Records has confirmed that he is in the middle of negotiations with Bynes, and he's keen to finance her breakout album.

He tells PerezHilton.com, "The fact that Amanda wants to do hip-hop music means that Chinga Chang label is the best place for her to do this, because of my past experience with bringing pop and legitimate hip hop together."

The label certainly has credentials in the rap world — Herman and his associates are behind the release of Kool G Rap's new album, Half a Clip.

The offer is good news for Bynes, who was arrested last month and charged with marijuana possession and reckless endangerment after reportedly throwing a bong out of the window as cops raided her New York home following reports she had been smoking pot in the building's lobby.

The fallen star has also recently been offered the chance to host a show for Playboy Radio.
