How to wear a sundress in five ways: From work to play, use accessories to shine all summer
Shopping for a new summer wardrobe? Slow down — you just might find everything you need in a single sundress.
With the right jackets and accessories, one lively, figure-flattering, summer-ready dress can take you from the park to a wedding to the dance floor and everywhere in between.
So how does one find the one dress to rule them all?
“More than colour, print or material, I’d say the perfect fit for your body is No. 1,” says Cristelle Basmaji, director of image and marketing at Jacob. That’s true for all types of clothing, she adds, “but particularly for a dress, because it's just one piece.” If it fits you like a glove, naturally, you’ll want to wear it all the time.
Basmaji also urges shoppers to pick a fabric suitable to dressing up or down. Floaty chiffons can be too fussy; lightweight cotton reads as super-casual. (The dress we chose is made of a “bonded lace” fabric, which features a lace texture stuck to a solid underlayer.)
Finally, don’t be afraid to choose something bolder than the standard LBD. “This summer, it’s really all about having fun with colour, so choose the colour that you’re most attracted to, that works with your hair colour or eye colour.”
