Meier to join Nadeau in fundraising challenge

Chief of police Jean-Marc Nadeau might not be the only man in town with pink hair after Preston Meier jumped on the cancer awareness bandwagon, Tuesday.
Jean-Marc Nadeau has reached $1,500 as of Tuesday morning and will soon be sporting a pink hairdo in support of cancer care.
“I think it’s just one of those events. How often do you see the chief of police with pink hair, for one, but too from a serious standpoint this is a great event and it’s a great cause,” said Nadeau following Tuesday’s Rotary Club meeting where he issued a challenge to Rotarians who might want to also support the cause. “If we can eradicate breast cancer and cancer in general then we’re doing good.”
Preston Meier announced his intention to follow in Nadeau’s footsteps and also dye his hair pink if he raises over $1,500 by the end of October.
“Part of the reason breast cancer is dear to my family is because my wife lost her mother to breast cancer about 21 years ago,” said Meier. “She never got a chance to see her grandkids grow up and so anything we can do to hopefully improve and maybe find a cure (would be great).”
After getting support from his wife and some comments from friends he decided to take the plunge.
“I figured I could either donate to the cause or jump on the bandwagon. Jean-Marc said, ‘There’s lots of room, jump on,’ so I need $1,500 and I’ll dye my hair and another $100 and I’ll have a pink beard but I think I’ll stop there,” said Meier.
