A harvest sale held at the Portage Salvation Army on Saturday will go a long way in helping the local food bank during its most busiest season of the year.

"It all helps a great deal.  It's all donated food so everything that's sold here goes towards us.  Going into Christmas, as needs increase, we have to (be ready) because demand increases as well.  It helps us to keep the shelves stocked and have enough supply," said Peter Robinson of the Portage Salvation Army.

Currently, the food bank at the Salvation Army is really low and Robinson is urging people to do what they can to help the Salvation Army as Christmas approaches.

"We're getting into a very busy season and things are really quiet right now," said Robinson.
