A section of the Trans-Canada Highway was shut down Monday afternoon after a grass fire caused poor visibility for drivers heading westbound.

The lanes were shut down some time after 1:00 p.m. after the smoke was causing tough driving conditions and safety concerns.

The highway was re-opened at around 2:30 p.m.
