A local firefighter is doing what he can to support Central Plains Cancer Care after injuring his right leg in an accident about a month ago.
Landeyn Aymont, a firefighter of five years, chose pink as the colour of his cast and plans to host an event at the local fire hall where you can sign his cast for $5.
All the funds are expected to benefit Central Plains Cancer Care, a cause that he greatly admires.
"It's for a good cause and we do a lot for Cancer Care at the department so I thought this would be a cool event," said Aymont. "They let you choose the colour of the cast so I was thinking about it and I thought pink would be a good colour."
Despite being made fun of by a few buddies, it's all for a good cause, joked Aymont, who wouldn't relinquish the details on just how he broke his leg because it was "an embarrassing story".
Nevertheless, Aymont is due to get his cast off in about three weeks time and begin the road to recovery.
The event takes place on Sept. 25 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Portage Fire Department.
