On September 17, 1984, Reggie Jackson hit his 500th homerun while wearing a California Angels uniform. Twenty years later, on the same day in 2004, Barry Bonds smacked his 700th homerun while donning a San Francisco Giants uniform. The following is a list of Major Leaguers who have hit 500 or more career homeruns.
On Sept. 17, 1984, during a game at Anaheim Stadium between the California Angels and the Kansas City Royals, Reggie Jackson hit his 500th homerun. The hapless stooge in the milestone was pitcher Bud Black.
Fast forward 20 years, and another homerun milestone was set on the same day. San Francisco's Barry Bonds hit HR #700 off Jake Peavy of the San Diego Padres.
