Allie Nadeau has been selected to be one of a handful of students taking part in a Manitoba Status of Women event at the Manitoba Legislature in October.
The women’s group will be celebrating the Year of the Girl with a celebration at the Legislature with guest speakers and 12 to 13 students from across Manitoba taking part.
“This summer she was nominated to take part in the Manitoba Status of Women event for the celebration of the Year of the Girl at the Manitoba Legislature in October. We just got a letter last week that she was selected on behalf of the Portage School Division to attend that event,” said division superintendent Hazen Barrett.
The event will allow women to share stories of the causes they pursue to inspire youth and other women in Manitoba.
Nadeau has been very active in Portage not only with sports but also with non-profit work.
“Allie’s been very active with the women’s shelter and also in sports in town as well as the school division,” added Barrett.
