Series of fires put out near 4th Ave 0

The Portage Fire Department found themselves on 4th Ave in Portage la Prairie for much of the weekend due to separate fires on the street.

The first fire occurred at the Portage la Prairie Composting Facility as a blaze flared up at around 5:00 p.m. and again at 10:53 p.m. 

The department dealt with the blaze but were recalled to the scene after something cause ablaze once again.  There is no determined cause for the blaze.

Later on Sunday evening, the firefighters were called to the scene of grass fire on 8th St. NW and 4th Ave. 

There were no property damages as a result as firefighters quickly put out the fire.
