There will be many changes for the kids in Pine Creek School Division including new administration, a new school, and some new construction as they head back to school.
Superintendent Brian Gouriluk announced there would be changes to administration in three of the division’s school.
“We have a new principal at MacGregor Elementary School, his name is Bryan Marriott. Bryan is a first year in that position,” said Gouriluk. “He used to be with Pine Creek School Division, he left to become a principal in Treherne a couple of years ago, and he’s returning to his home town as principal in MacGregor.”
Alan Warkentin will be taking on the role of principal at Gladstone Elementary School, as was announced at the end of last year.
And finally there will be a new administrator to the division’s six Huttarian colony schools.
“As well we have a new principal of the colony schools. His name is Randy Chambers, he’s a long time employee of Pine Creek School Division, and he will be serving as the administrator for our seven colony schools,” said Gouriluk.
On the topic of colony schools, Pine Creek School Division had increased its number with the addition of a new colony school near Gladstone.
“We have added a new colony school, it is Emerald Colony, which is located on Highway 16 just west of Gladstone. They are completing their new school, and they are joining us as a Pine Creek School next week,” said Gouriluk.
There will also be noticeable changes to the division’s two high schools, with one project completed and another on the go.
“We did do a renovation in William Morton Collegiate this summer, which has completed a new commercial foods lab,” said Gouriluk. “Basically, the Home Ec space has been renovated and it’s a beautiful, commercial kitchen facility for students to learn cooking and to run the student canteen.”
There is also work currently being done to MacGregor Collegiate, which is getting some new labs.
“We also do have some construction under way at MacGregor Collegiate but that will be a bigger story when it’s finished. The new labs wont be finished until about mid-October,” said Gouriluk.
Students will be heading back to school starting on September 5.
