Portage Emergency Services responded to a suspicious fire on 5th Ave. W on Thursday afternoon near a local place of worship.
Just after 2:00 p.m. on Thursday a fire was called in near the 5th Ave. Gospel Hall at 5th Ave. W and 5th St. NW. A fire had started under a tent set up beside the hall.
The Portage Fire Department, Portage RCMP, and EMS all were on scene. Some grass and chairs were damaged during the fire.
The fire has since been deemed suspicious and is now under investigation.
