A Portage woman has died following a two-car accident at Trans-Canada Highway and Yellowquill Trail Thursday.
Portage Emergency Services were called to the scene at about 4:45 p.m. Thursday when an green Toyota Corolla car and a westbound blue Austin Mini Cooper car collided.
The fire department confirmed the Toyota car was crossing the highway towards Yellowquill Trail, northbound away from Portage, when it was struck on the side by the westbound blue Austin Mini Cooper.
The 80 year old female driver of the Toyota, who is from Portage, died as a result of the collision.
The 35 year old female driver of the Austin Mini, who is from Winnipeg, has been taken to Portage District General Hospital for treatment for non-life threatening injuries.
There were no other occupants in the vehicles.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
Traffic on the highway was being diverted Thursday evening while the RCMP traffic analysts completed their investigation of the collision.
