By Robin Dudgeon, Portage Daily Graphic

Elton Jr. performed during the second last Concert in the Park series in Island Park, Thursday night.

The Elton John tribute act put on by Kelly Langner was well recieved by the large crowd that gathered in the park. He offered the crowd a wide range of John's repetoir including Your Song, Tiny Dancer, Rocket Man, Crocadile Rock, Candle in the Wind, and Bennie and the Jets. Langner also played the slightly more obscure American Triangle, which was penned after the hate crime slaying of Matthew Shepard.

Stella Capp and Effie Dennis very much enjoyed the concert.

"I think it was great, I knew Kelly as a kid. He came from the same place I did," said Capp.

"It was good, entertainment in the park is nice. It's a beautiful night and he plays that piano well too," said Effie Dennis.

Elton Jr.'s performance was the second last in the summer concert series sponsored by the Portage Community Revitalization Corporation. Johnny Dietrich will be wrapping up the series on Aug. 30 at the Island Park bandstand.
