Portage Golf Club kicked of their annual Club Championship early on Saturday morning.

Brad Young, head professional at the Portage Golf Club, said the women’s and junior divisions don’t have as many golfers as they’d like to see.

“The ladies and junior divisions are down in entries this year,” he said. “We have a lot of junior members, which is terrific. I know a lot are playing other sports and are busy this weekend, so it’s too bad we only got one group of them. We also have one group of ladies as well.”

Not all is lost, as the senior men and men’s divisions are seeing good turnouts this year.

“The seniors and men’s divisions both have around 30 golfers each,” said Young. “We’re looking at about 60-70 golfers for the Club Championship.”
