A&W’s across Canada will be taking part in “Crusin’ for a Cause Day” on Aug. 23. The event, now its fourth year, sees $1 from every Teen Burger purchase go towards the MS Society of Canada.
Last year, the one-day event raised over $1-million and the fast food chain hopes to see similar numbers again this year.
Josh Black, owner of the Portage A&W, said the location has been taking money in donations from Portage residents all summer.
“So far this summer we’ve raised about $400 in donations,” said Black. “The people in Portage are very welcoming and happy to donate to a good cause. We appreciate their support.”
Black said he is hoping the location can top last year’s mark of $1,300.
“If we can match or slightly pass last years numbers, we’ll be very happy.”
In Manitoba alone last year, A&W raised about $50,000. Black said nationally, the bar has been set even higher this year.
“A&W is looking to raise $1.5-million in total this year,” he said. “We’re hoping we can reach that number.”
