With another Potato Festival in the books, plans to debrief this year’s event and look ahead to the 10th anniversary will soon be underway.

Nadine Birston, co-chair for the 2012 Portage Potato Festival, said the committee is please with the festival and the changes that were made.

“The crowds during the day we very good and steady,” she said. “This year was even busier than the last. It seems that we have been seeing growth happening the past two years. We’re really pleased with the way the festival went.”

Feedback from Portage residents who attended the festival was overwhelmingly positive said Birston.

“A lot of people loved our layout,” she said. “The extended hours for kids activities were incredibly successful. Everyone seemed to enjoy the activities, especially the rock wall.”

The older crowd was treated later in the evening to local bands instead of the usual big headlining act.

Birston said that the concerts received steady turnouts throughout the night.

“It seemed as though the attendance was steady,” she said. “Crowds didn’t differ from last year.”
