The City gave second and third reading to an amendment on off-leash dog parks at Monday’s council meeting, which brought the project one step closer to completion.

Committee members Richard Anderson and Suz Wiens attended Monday’s meeting where Anderson addressed council. He was concerned with the lack of communication the group has received since their initial presentation back in May, and was very eager to get moving on the project.

“I know that this all takes time and it has to go through the proper channels… I was just looking for some kind of indication or assurance that this is still on the agenda and hasn’t been put on the back burner,” said Anderson. “We are here to answer any questions with regards to the amendment or to help you in any way. I’d just like to thank everyone for the work that’s been done up to now and hopefully that this will progress further.”

The City assuaged his fears by approving the amendment, allowing them to begin moving forward with site selection. Coun. Ryan Espey appointed himself as a go-between between the committee and the City for the future.

“I think it will lend a little bit of efficiency to the process. If they need answers on things they can contact me and I can seek those out instead of maybe approaching several different people and waiting for an answer back,” said Espey. “I’m happy to do it and hopefully we can get things moving forward in a timely manner for them.”
