Youth for Christ (YFC) held a volleyball fundraiser at Republic of Manitobah Park on Saturday afternoon.
Steve Hildebrand, skateboard director at YFC, said the fundraiser is in support of YFC’s Costa Rica Project.
“We want to raise money so we can go to Costa Rica and help them do some programs for kids,” he said. “More specifically, we’re looking at skateboarding programs.”
For a first time fundraiser, Hildebrand said they received a good turnout.
“We got 11 team registered for the event and we’re hoping to raise close to $1,000,” he said. “For a first time event, we feel it’s been successful. We thought it was a fun way to spend the day and raise money for a good cause.”
