Island Park will once again be home to more great local musicians as Pseudo-Arctic take to the stage Aug 16 as part of the Summer Concert Series.

Keyboardist Aaron Hourie said the band has gone through many incarnations, but this one seems to “be the one.”

“Early on, it was just Rene (Jobin) and myself,” he said. We’d get together and do some recordings with a couple of different musicians. That went on for awhile until we found fantastic musicians who now make up Pseudo-Arctic.”

Hourie defines the band as alternative indie, who have musical influences from two legendary acts.

“We have some local influences, but we also like to style ourselves after The Beatles and Pink Floyd,” said Hourie.

For their concert this upcoming weekend, the band plans on playing a lot of original pieces of music that will be on their debut album.

“We’re going to be playing some covers, but the majority of the show will be original pieces,” said Hourie. “The album is scheduled to come out by the end of summer, but we may have to wait and release it in the fall. The title of the record is Plastic Iceberg.”
