Traffic light post knocked down on Tupper St. 0

By Brandon Logan, Portage Daily Graphic

At approximately 11:45 a.m. Thursday morning on Tupper Street and Saskatchewan Avenue, a traffic light post was dislodged by a van in a single vehicle accident.

Cpl. Darcy Turko with the Portage RCMP said the accident was caused because the driver had an allergic reaction behind the wheel.

“The van was going eastbound when the driver had an allergic reaction and hit the light standard,” he said. “It was a single vehicle accident.”

There were two occupants in the vehicle at the time of the accident and both were unharmed.

“The male driver was treated at the scene,” said Turko. “The van suffered minor damage.”

The light standard has since been fixed and traffic is flowing normally in the area.
