The City of Portage la Prairie announced, Wednesday, that they would once again be fogging for the culex tarsalis mosquito.
"We just received notification from the Province that they are going to be fogging again for mosquitoes Thursday night, pretty much the exact same set up as last time," said city manager Dale Lyle.
The City will be fogging from 9:30 p.m. on Thursday Aug. 9 until 6:00 a.m. Friday, weather permitting and encourages people to remain inside during that time. Crews will be fogging within a three mile radius of Portage.
"What happened was the mosquito count after the last fogging that they did dropped, and it's come back up again, especially kind of in the north area of Portage," said Lyle. "As a result of that the culex tarsalis count - the mosquitoes that cause the West Nile virus - is high so they're going to fog."
The City fogged for the first time this year on Aug. 2 after the culex tarsalis mosquito count rose to a dangerous level.
