After a 130 years, the Town of Gladstone will be carving out a new future with a new logo.

The town, which was incorporated in 1882, will be changing their logo from the steam engine to one that features a grain elevator, rocks, a river and a railway.

"In the process of the contest, we had a lot of great ideas from different people," said Louise Blair, CAO of the Town of Gladstone. "We wanted it to show progression and we added a few things that we wanted to see in it as well.

The winner of the contest was Islay Shellborn, of Erickson, Manitoba, who won the contest among dozens of submissions.

The new logo is expected to be erected at the entrance of the Gladstone Business Park and new public works vehicles.

The new design will be unveil on Sat. Aug 11 as part of the Gladstone Agricultural Fair Parade.
