The Summer Concert Series at Island Park has had a successful inaugural month according to organizer Annette Heal.
Outside of the first show, attendance numbers have steadily increased week-by-week – likely due to the great venue, music and beautiful weather.
“Our first show, we didn’t see the best numbers, but they were respectable,” said Heal. “Every show since, we’ve seen over 100 people. It’s great to see.”
Heal said the feedback received from people who attended shows has been “pretty darn good.”
“They love it,” she said. “We started a petition last night for peoples opinions on the shows. So far we have over 80 signatures saying they enjoyed their experience.”
Last weeks band, Second Class Heroes, received a great turnout. The alternative rock band, made of all Portage residents, played all original songs Thursday night as they headlined the August 2 edition of the series.
“We like to do different kinds of music,” said Heal. “Diversity is crucial to these shows. We like to have a little bit of everything for everyone, because people have different tastes.”
