Big plans on the horizon for the Salvation Army 0

Brandon Logan

The new lieutenants at the Salvation Army are slowly settling into their new positions in Portage la Prairie.

A developing issue arising is the food bank and the amount of food that is going out.

"It's summer and people are on their holidays, so they're not thinking about giving food," said

Peter Robinson. "In the weeks we've been here, we've seen more food going out the door than in it.'

For an organization like the Salvation Army, they heavily rely on the gracious donations from the people in the community.

"We had about 400 adults and 300 children assisted in May," said Peter. "Lately we've been seeing 20-30 families a week come in for food."

With the food bank slowly dwindling, there are some plans being made for food drives said Peter.
