By Robin Dudgeon...Museum goers will get the chance to see the Fort La Reine Museum's new acquisition - a 1952 GMC pumper fire truck - during the Heritage Days celebration being held, Saturday.
Fort la Reine Museum will be hosting Heritage Days this weekend with plenty of new additions to entertain families and history buffs.
The event will take place on Sat. July 21 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Admission is $5 per person with children under four for free.
"We'll have costume guided tours, we'll be running the wood fired oven and making homemade cinnamon buns, we have some strolling entertainers that will be doing some traditional music in costume," said curator Tracey Turner.
There will also be a petting zoo and pony rides for the kids.
New highlights will include archeological displays, a silent auction and a flintknapping demonstration put on by the Manitoba Archeological Society. Flintknapping will demonstrate how stone tools and stone projectile points used to be made.
