Erin Chambers, office manager at the Manitoba Youth Job Centre (MYJC) Portage location said although the summer was initially quite busy things have since slowed down.

"It's been relatively good. It's slowed down a little bit now - it was pretty intense at the beginning but now I've done a few placements and I still have some job orders and stuff," said Chambers.

Although she is not sure if this pace will be maintained over the rest of the summer she said it does depend on employers and how many youth are still looking for jobs at this point.

Chambers would like to see more businesses getting involved with the Centre before the summer ends.

The MYJC opened back in May to assist youth ages 12-29 with getting summer employment by connecting employers with youth in a variety of different fields.

The Centre also offered youth help with writing resumes and cover letters, as well as preparing for job interviews.
